Bolton Institute of Medical Sciences

The Bolton Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) is a transformative £40 million project aimed at revolutionising healthcare education in Bolton and the surrounding areas. The project, which is one of the most ambitious developments in the borough’s history, was recently highlighted by Levelling Up Secretary Michael Gove in Parliament as a prime example of “turning aspiration into action.”

Construction Project Highlights

This large scale project required only the best level of security, boasting a £13.3 million spend. 

The sheer scale of the project is also shown by the £20 million grant from the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund.

Last December, the project developers revealed that their local expenditure had more than doubled the original target of £6 million. 

They ultimately invested a total of £12.3 million within a 20-mile radius of the construction site.
